Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize shortlist

The winners of two major translation-into-English prizes were recently announced — the Best Translated Book Awards and the Man Booker International Prize — but now another major one just announced its shortlist.

The Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize isn’t quite as linguistically comprehensive — it: “is for book-length literary translations into English from any living European language” — but more open as to format, considering any sort of literary translation.

They’ve announced this year’s shortlist, eight titles selected from: “nearly 110 titles in translations from 15 different languages”.

Among the shortlisted works: The Meursault Investigation (John Cullen’s translation of Kamel Daoud’s novel) and Laurus (Lisa C. Hayden translation of Eugene Vodolazkin’s work).

The winner will be announced n 11 June.
