It will be a while before we will actually be able to read these (in English), but it’s great to see much-needed financial support for such an interesting variety of literary projects.
On Sunday, 28 August, at 5 PM I will be in conversation with writer Simon Winchester at The Mount (Edith Wharton’s old place !) in Lenox, Massachusetts, talking about my book and international fiction.
They’ve announced the longlists for this year’s American Literary Translators Association National Translation Awards in prose and poetry.
Not all the translations are of contemporary literature (including what is probably my favorite, Ahmad Faris al-Shidyaq’s Leg over Leg), but it makes for a good list of some of the more impressive recent works in translation to appear in the US.
